Gospel musician Empress Gifty has dedicated all seven awards she received this year to President John Dramani Mahama, while appealing to him to build a modern auditorium for Ghana’s creative arts industry.

The celebrated artiste, together with her husband Mr. Hopeson Adorye and her management team led by Edem Mensah-Tsotorme, paid a courtesy visit to the President at the Jubilee House on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

During the visit, Empress Gifty expressed her appreciation to President Mahama, describing him as a father figure who has been a source of inspiration throughout her career. She explained that the visit was to congratulate him and share updates on her recent achievements in gospel music.

Empress Gifty also used the opportunity to dedicate her seven awards to the President and appealed for the construction of a 10,000 to 30,000-seater national auditorium to help grow the creative arts sector. She noted that such a venue would allow Ghana to host major international concerts, award shows, and conferences, boosting both the economy and the industry’s visibility.

She further urged the government to allocate more funding to the creative arts sector in the national budget to support talent development and infrastructure.

President Mahama, in response, thanked Empress Gifty for the gesture and commended her for her hard work, consistency, and excellence in gospel music. Referring to her as his “daughter,” he encouraged her to keep striving for greatness.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to the creative industry, revealing that plans for a national convention centre were already under review. Once completed, he said, the facility would serve as a multipurpose venue for both local and international events.

President Mahama assured that he remains dedicated to supporting Ghana’s creative arts sector, promising to provide budgetary backing and policy support to help the industry thrive.
