Ebi Bright Confirmed As Mayor Of Tema
Ghanaian actress-turned-politician and the 2024 National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Tema Central, Ebi Bright, has been confirmed as the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly.
She secured a strong endorsement from assembly members, receiving 28 votes in favour and just 3 against.
Her nomination, however, sparked mixed reactions among residents, with some raising concerns over her non-indigene status in the area. Despite the controversy, Ebi Bright was officially sworn in on Friday, May 9, by the Greater Accra Regional Minister.

In her address, she pledged to work diligently to promote development in the municipality and committed to supporting the President’s 24-hour economy initiative. Her confirmation marks a historic milestone, making her the first female mayor of Tema.
