DJ Awana Of Adom FM Passes Away
The Ghanaian entertainment industry is reeling from the loss of renowned disc jockey DJ Awana, also known as Samuel Nartey, of Adom FM. He passed away on Sunday after a brief illness.
Since the news of his death broke, tributes and condolences have flooded social media, as fans and colleagues express their sorrow over the passing of the beloved DJ.

Among those paying tribute on social media are Kofi Donkor, husband and manager of gospel singer Celestine Donkor, as well as Nana Poku Ashis, manager of highlife artist Kwabena Kwabena. Both expressed deep sorrow, with Nana Poku Ashis particularly acknowledging DJ Awana’s significant impact on the music industry.
Media personalities, including Ohemaa Woyeje and fellow DJ Ashmen, have also expressed their condolences on social media, praising DJ Awana’s remarkable career and contributions to the industry.
While the cause of his death has not been officially disclosed, it is known that DJ Awana was hospitalized last week. He had reassured friends and colleagues who reached out to him that he was recovering, making his sudden passing even more tragic.
DJ Awana began his career in 2003 at Tema-based Adom FM, where he quickly became a prominent figure in Ghana’s radio and live event scenes. In 2007, he moved to Oman FM before returning to the Multimedia Group to join Hitz FM, further cementing his status as a talented and versatile DJ.
Known for his unique identity, DJ Awana’s signature jingle, “3y3 Awana nie oo,” became a beloved sound among his listeners, adding to his legacy in the entertainment world.
