Gospel artiste Selina Boateng has firmly responded to critics who judge ministers of the gospel over failed marriages, stressing that divorce does not nullify one’s calling or ministry.

The Alpha and Omega hitmaker lamented the increasing judgmental attitudes toward gospel musicians who experience marital breakdowns. She admitted to facing her own marital challenges but described the criticisms as unfair, noting that marriage struggles are personal battles and should not define one’s ability to serve God.

Speaking to Graphic Showbiz on Monday, August 18, 2025, Selina emphasized that a broken home does not equate to a broken calling.

“Divorce comes with a lot of issues, but I can boldly say it doesn’t affect our ministry because we are human beings working for God. We are not perfect. The focus is on making an impact on people’s lives,” she said.

She argued that gospel musicians remain effective ministers regardless of marital setbacks, adding, “So are they saying everyone with a failed marriage won’t make it to heaven? It’s not in the Bible that a broken marriage disqualifies anyone from entering heaven.”

Selina condemned society’s tendency to mock instead of support those going through such crises. She explained that divorce often comes with deep emotional and psychological pain beyond an individual’s control, and urged Christians to pray for those affected instead of casting judgment.

“It’s unfortunate that this generation doesn’t know how to support a brother or sister in a difficult place. Society shouldn’t bash someone because it presumes they’ve sinned. The question is—are you trying to draw them closer to God or push them away?” she asked.

Selina Boateng credits her endurance in ministry to God’s grace, adding that her true focus has always been on transforming lives through her music rather than chasing validation or applause.
