Dancegod Lloyd nominated, for Best African Dancer
The Ghanaian decorative dancer and choreographer Laud Anoo Kunadu, also known as Dancegod Lloyd, has been nominated for this year’s Best African Dancer African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRMMAs).
In order to help young, talented dancers on the streets, Dancegod formed the nonprofit organization “Dance With a Purpose Academy” (DWP) with the help of his ex-manager Quables and dancing partner Afro Beast.
For many years, Dancegod has played a crucial role in the Ghanaian music scene, using his skill to help artists and songs get wider audiences.
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Africa interviewed Lloyd in 2018 to learn more about his role in rewriting the history of dance, particularly Afrobeat.
After a video of him dancing to the song went viral, Beyoncé and Shatta Wale included Dancegod in their “Already” music video.

Dancegod Lloyd competes in the same category as his brother from Ghana, Hooliboy, as well as Masaka Dance Kids from Uganda, Poco Lee from Nigeria, Ghetto Kids from Uganda, Angel Nyigu from Tanzania, Hope Ramafalo from South Africa, and Wet Bad Gang from Angola.
The “Sho,” “Agbelemi,” “Akiti,” and “Swerve” dances are only a few of the dance routines that Dancegod invented.
In addition to being a dancer, Lloyd also sang and wrote numerous popular songs, including Zenabu, BomBomBom, Sika, Eheati, and Sinner.
