Sharing his thoughts in an open letter on Facebook, Lartey expressed concern about growing divisions and a lack of inclusiveness in the gospel music space. He encouraged musicians to stay emotionally strong and not let disappointment or lack of support from others affect their calling.

“In this journey of ministry through music, one truth we must accept is that not everyone will show you love — and that’s okay,” he wrote. “If you choose to love, love without expecting anything in return. Let your love be pure and sincere.”
Lartey also reminded gospel artists to respond to challenges with kindness and understanding, rather than bitterness. According to him, a peaceful and supportive atmosphere is key to building a strong gospel community.

He went on to criticize the frequent appearance of the same names and faces at major gospel events, saying it prevents new talents from being discovered and limits creativity.
“The habit of booking the same artists over and over again makes our concerts predictable,” he said. “We need new voices, fresh sounds, and a mix of gifts if we want gospel music to keep growing and touching more lives.”
Lartey ended his message with a simple but powerful call:
“Let’s reflect. Let’s build. And above all, let’s love without expectations.”
His message has since received praise from many in the gospel music industry, with several artists and fans agreeing that the time has come for more unity, creativity, and openness in Ghana’s gospel space.
