In a video shared on GhanaCelebrities.com, Mzbel pointed out that legendary musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, released numerous songs with explicit lyrics yet won multiple awards throughout his career.
Reflecting on her own experiences, Mzbel noted that her hit songs 16 Years and Awoso Me faced heavy criticism for their lyrical content, which ultimately prevented them from winning awards. She revealed that there was a deliberate effort to block 16 Years from receiving any accolades, a move that proved successful. Meanwhile, Awoso Me was officially disqualified on the grounds of explicit lyrics.
Calling out the inconsistency, Mzbel described the situation as hypocritical, emphasizing that Daddy Lumba’s songs contained explicit content, yet he was celebrated with numerous awards.
Her comments come in light of the recent exclusion of King Paluta’s hit song Makoma from the 2025 TGMA nominations, despite its massive success over the past year. The issue has reignited debates over the fairness of award selections based on lyrical content.
