During a press briefing on June 10 at the Ministry’s Complex in Accra, Communication Minister Samuel Nartey George (MP) announced a set of reforms following months of discussions with major telecom operators—AirtelTigo (AT Ghana), Telecel Ghana Limited, and Scancom Ghana Limited (MTN Ghana). The adjustments are aimed at improving data value offerings while maintaining a balance with operational costs.

MTN Ghana, which holds the Significant Market Power (SMP) designation, will implement a 15% price increase across all data bundles. However, the well-known GH₵399 bundle, which had previously seen a reduction in value, will be restored to its original offer.

“I’m pleased to announce the restoration of the 399 Ghana cedi bundle, which had been altered to the 350 cedi bundle offering 92.88 gigabytes. It will now return to its original 214 gigabytes for 399 Ghana cedis,” the minister stated.

Summary of Key Changes:

  • MTN Ghana:

    • 15% price increase on all data bundles

    • GH₵399 bundle restored to 214GB (up from GH₵350 for 92.88GB)
