Cedi Inches Up, Now Trading At GH¢13.10 To The Dollar On Interbank Market
Ghana’s cedi has recorded slight gains against major foreign currencies, particularly the US dollar, on the interbank market.
According to the Bank of Ghana’s latest update, the cedi is trading at GH¢13.09 (buying) and GH¢13.10 (selling) to the US dollar. The British pound is at GH¢17.42 (buying) and GH¢17.44 (selling), while the euro is quoted at GH¢14.74 (buying) and GH¢14.75 (selling).
However, retail forex rates tell a different story. Checks by GhanaWeb Business on May 12, 2025, reveal higher rates at major forex bureaus: GH¢13.65 to the dollar, GH¢18.50 to the pound, and GH¢15.80 to the euro.
These shifts highlight continued volatility in the currency market, urging traders and analysts to monitor fluctuations closely.
The Ghanaian cedi is experiencing a remarkable turnaround against the US dollar, showcasing unprecedented stability.
Recently, it surged from GH¢15.75 to GH¢13.40 on the retail market and even lower on the interbank market.
