Carl Clottey Laments Lack Of Financial Support From The Church
Gospel musician Carl Clottey has opened up about the lack of financial and structural backing from the church, sharing a personal experience that left him disheartened.
In an interview on Hitz Praise Zone with Nii Noi, Clottey recalled how only 60 out of 1,000 CDs were sold within his church after the release of one of his albums. “I was so excited about the album and wanted the whole church to hear it. But when only 60 copies sold, it really hit me,” he said.

While church members often attend his events to show moral support, he noted that this has rarely translated into the tangible investment needed to grow his music ministry.

“My church, The Apostolic Church Ghana, follows a strict leadership structure. Unless you’re in an assembly where the leaders are personally interested in supporting you, you’re mostly on your own,” he explained.
Clottey shared that most of his progress in the gospel music space has come through personal effort and the support of family and friends. “At some point, I realised I was handling everything by myself. The church hasn’t really stepped in financially or structurally.”

Despite these challenges, Clottey remains dedicated to his calling. Known for hits like Di Wo Hene, One and Only, Deedew, Yehowa, and Your Grace, he blends soulful worship with modern gospel sounds, delivering messages of faith, hope, and spiritual connection.
A respected figure in Ghana’s urban gospel scene, Clottey has built a strong following through heartfelt performances and engaging online presence, connecting with audiences across generations.

While he appreciates the moral support from church members, he believes more is needed for lasting impact. “I’m grateful for those who show up, but it takes more than attendance to truly move a ministry forward,” he said.
