According to GHOne TV, the Attorney General dropped the charges against the couple and another person on Monday, February 17, 2025. They had been facing prosecution for permitting their son to drive without a license.

However, GHOne TV also reported that the couple was taken back into custody immediately after leaving the court. Their 16-year-old son, Elisha Salifu Amoako, was sentenced on December 19, 2024, to six months in a senior correctional facility.

His sentencing followed his guilty plea to eight charges, including two counts of manslaughter, for a fatal road accident in East Legon that resulted in the deaths of two preteens. Prior to his sentencing, he had been held at the Osu Correctional Centre after being remanded by the Family and Juvenile Court while facing prosecution for causing the accident.

Police prosecutors stated that the teenager had been speeding in a Jaguar F-Pace Sport, which belonged to his parents, when he crashed into a black Acura carrying the victims.

According to reports, Salifu Amoako’s son drove the white Jaguar with a friend to A&C Mall, where they met other friends who were waiting in two SUVs. The three vehicles then moved together in a convoy, with the accused leading in his mother’s Jaguar as they traveled through East Legon.

During his hearing at the Family and Juvenile Court, the 16-year-old initially pleaded not guilty to all charges. The court ordered his remand, detailing the conditions of his custody and specific guidelines for his care.

Following the accident, Salifu Amoako, his wife, Mouha Amoako, and a sales assistant named Linda Bonsu Prempeh were also arrested. The Accra Circuit Court granted bail to Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, setting the amount at GH₵50,000 each, with two sureties.

Linda Bonsu Prempeh, who was accused of providing the key to the Jaguar involved in the crash, was also granted bail under the same conditions, requiring two sureties without justification. All three were charged with “permitting an unlicensed person to drive” and pleaded not guilty during their court hearing on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
