Bishop Daniel Obinim, the founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, has raised concerns about President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to appoint John Dumelo, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, as the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture.

Bishop Obinim believes Dumelo has not yet earned such a high-ranking position. “Opportunities come once in a lifetime. Let me use John Dumelo as an example—how long has he even been an MP to receive a ministerial appointment?” he questioned.

He argued that Mahama’s appointment of Dumelo and others is a way of rewarding those who contributed to his victory in the 2024 general elections. In a YouTube video addressing his church members, Bishop Obinim stated, “Mahama has decided that during his four-year term, he will ensure that those who helped him win the election benefit from his administration.”

“John is not yet at the level of becoming a minister. He is an actor. He has visited my house in Ashaley Botwe about five times. “He even came to my house to act in a movie with Christabel and David Osei. Now, he is an Honourable Member of Parliament. Indeed, time changes. My brother John, I salute you.”
