Bawumia’s Camp Had 137 MPs, Now Struggling To Convince Even 60 – Ken Agyapong’s Team Fires
Kwasi Kwarteng, former Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education and now a prominent member of Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team, has taken a jab at Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential bid.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kwarteng questioned the declining support within Bawumia’s camp. “Isn’t it interesting that the same camp which once had total support from 137 MPs, all government appointees, and party executives at every level is now struggling to convince us they have over 60 MPs—based on a video that shows barely 25 people in the room? Time changes ampa.”
Kwarteng’s remarks come in the wake of reports that over sixty New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs have declared their support for Dr. Bawumia ahead of the 2024 elections.

The MPs reportedly paid a courtesy visit to the former Vice President, pledging their backing. Speaking after the meeting, Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude, saying: “This morning I had a visit from our Members of Parliament… a courtesy call and a call to declare support for me. I am so happy for the group that has declared support for me from Parliament. They amount to just over 60 members.”
He emphasized the strategic significance of the endorsement, noting that MPs “control the constituencies to a large extent,” and described the visit as a “strong show of support.”

Despite the public show of confidence from Bawumia’s side, critics like Kwarteng suggest the Vice President’s support within the party may be waning compared to the early momentum he once enjoyed.
