Gospel musician Piesie Esther has shared her thoughts on awards, success, and how she handled losing the 2023 Artiste of the Year award to Black Sherif.

In an interview on Akoma FM, the celebrated singer revealed that although she didn’t win, the outcome did not break her spirit or define her worth as an artiste.

According to her, awards are good and encouraging, but they should never be the ultimate measure of a musician’s success or impact.

“Awards shouldn’t define one’s success,” she said.
“I wasn’t very disappointed after the awards. I was okay. But the people who were really disappointed were my loved ones, especially members of the Church of Pentecost who came in their numbers to support me.”

Piesie Esther explained that her supporters were more affected by the loss than she was because they had high hopes of seeing her crowned Artiste of the Year. She expressed her deep appreciation for their unwavering support and noted that their passion shows how much her music touches lives.

The Waye Me Yie hitmaker also shared that while awards serve as recognition, they do not fully capture an artiste’s journey, purpose, or ministry. To her, success is rooted in consistency, impact, and the souls her music inspires.
