In recent times, celebrated musicians have revisited classic songs Obaapa Christy refreshed No Weapon, Kofi Owusu Peprah reimagined his father’s evergreen Matwen, Ronica Sings revamped Enye Wo, and Joe Mettle received acclaim for his rendition of Cindy Thompson’s Akokyem Nyame.

Joining this trend is singer Mavis Asante, who earlier this month released a refreshed version of Aseda, the debut hit that propelled her to fame 16 years ago after TV3’s Mentor Season 4.
Speaking to Graphic Showbiz on Monday, November 24, Mavis expressed excitement over the project, describing it as tailored for today’s fast-paced, trend-conscious audience.

“I aim to capture the attention of stylish, youthful listeners with Aseda Reloaded,” she said, noting that the new rendition combines a modern gospel vibe with the uplifting message of the original.
Mavis explained that the decision to revisit the song was inspired both by fan requests and her desire to reintroduce the song with a contemporary style that reflects deeper meaning. The new version features full live instrumentation—a demanding process she described as more challenging than the original production—but one she is thrilled with. “The results were worth the risk,” she said.

The title Reloaded reflects Mavis’s personal and spiritual growth over the past 16 years. “The Bible says we shall move from grace to grace. After 16 years, I’m more mature and experienced. That’s why we named it Reloaded—it’s packed with everything, both physical and spiritual,” she explained.
She also revealed that renowned actress Nana Ama McBrown encouraged her to revisit the song. “Whenever she meets me, she asks, ‘Supreme, when are you doing the remix of my favourite song?’” Mavis recalled, crediting the actress for nudging her back into the studio.
Mavis describes Aseda Reloaded as a new beginning that reflects her life experiences, growth, and faith journey. “I have been through a lot, though I hate speaking about my struggles. I believe it was God who steered my steps to this point. Everything about my life, family, fans, career, and faith inspired this song,” she said.
She is confident the new version will inspire and uplift listeners just as the original did. “I hope and believe it will bless listeners and give them reasons to be grateful and thankful to God,” Mavis added.
