Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari and other former Black Stars Players Commiserate with Atsu family
The home of the deceased Ghanaian international Christian Atsu has been visited by a few former members of the Senior National Team.
Asamoah Gyan, the former captain of the Black Stars, and midfielder Sulley Muntari paid a visit to their former teammates’ families to offer their sympathies. They were accompanied by Agyeman Badu and Haminu Dramani, two of their colleagues.
The condolence book for their former teammate was also signed by the former players. When playing for the Black Stars, the players were teammates of the dead player. Almost 46,000 people, including Atsu, perished in an earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria.

Atsu was a professional football player who mostly played as a winger but could also play left back or offensive midfield.
With FC Porto, Atsu launched his international career. He also spent a season on loan with Rio Ave. He was acquired by Chelsea for £3.5 million in 2013, and after that, the club loaned him to Vitesse Arnhem, Everton, AFC Bournemouth, and Málaga.
He signed a permanent switch to Newcastle United in May 2017 after spending the 2016–17 campaign there on loan. He played for Al Raed in Saudi Arabia after his four-year contract expired then for Hatayspor in Turkey, where he was killed at age 31 in the Turkey-Syria earthquake of 2023.
