Afua Asantewa Breaks Silence On Failed Second Guinness Record Attempt
Afua Asantewa Breaks Silence On Failed Second Guinness Record Attempt
Ghanaian media personality and singer Afua Asantewaa has once again fallen short in her quest to break the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon, following a detailed review of her second attempt.
In an official statement, the Guinness World Records (GWR) team explained that the attempt was disqualified due to multiple violations of the required rest break rules. According to GWR regulations, participants are permitted a five-minute break for every hour of singing—a rule Afua’s team reportedly failed to comply with on two occasions.

“At 23:25 during sequence 19, Afua reportedly took a 15-minute break, though she was only entitled to 5 minutes,” the report stated.
“Later, during sequence 21, she took a 105-minute break, despite having just 10 minutes of accumulated rest.”
These rule breaches, the organization emphasized, made the attempt ineligible, reinforcing the importance of strict compliance to maintain fairness in all record challenges.
This marks Afua Asantewaa’s second unsuccessful bid for the record. However, she remains resilient and optimistic.
“It’s been a challenging yet rewarding journey,” she shared in a statement. “Engaging with the Guinness World Records platform has led to personal growth, discovery, and life-changing experiences.”
Afua extended her deep appreciation to her team, sponsors—including His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II—and to Ghanaians worldwide for their unwavering support.
Despite the disappointment, Afua made it clear that her story is still unfolding, hinting at future projects and new horizons ahead.
