According to the petition, the officer in question—identified as Constable Forson and described as “a tall, fair, and heavily built officer”—was stationed at the entrance to Parliament during the demonstration. Afenyo-Markin claims the officer physically assaulted him at the parliamentary gates, prompting his call for immediate disciplinary action.

“The said Constable Forson assaulted me at the entrance of Parliament House during the demonstration,” the Minority Leader stated in his petition.

To support his complaint, Afenyo-Markin included a detailed public statement to counter what he termed “misleading narratives” surrounding the incident. This statement, attached to the petition, is intended to aid the police in their investigation.

“This petition seeks to ensure transparency and accountability in addressing this serious matter,” he wrote, underscoring the need for a thorough review of police conduct during the high-profile protest.

The demonstration, organized by the Minority caucus, featured prominent parliamentary figures and was aimed at drawing attention to recent developments within the judiciary. The alleged assault has since sparked broader concerns about the role and behavior of police officers at political demonstrations.

In concluding his petition, Afenyo-Markin expressed his trust in the police service: “Counting on your usual cooperation,” he wrote, signaling hope for swift and impartial resolution.
