Actress Kalsoume Sinare Appointed Ambassador To Spain By President Mahama
Ghanaian actress and filmmaker Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe has been appointed as Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain by President John Dramani Mahama. The appointment, officially announced on June 21, 2025, was confirmed in a statement signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama.

Sinare is among 15 new diplomatic nominees comprising ambassadors, high commissioners, and a consul-general designate tasked with representing Ghana’s interests across the globe. These appointments reflect Ghana’s strategic intent to strengthen bilateral relations with key international partners.

Renowned for her dynamic performances in films such as Out of Sight, Crossfire, Ties That Bind, and Trinity, Sinare stands as one of Ghana’s most respected figures in the creative arts. Her decades-long career spans film, television, and theatre, earning her multiple honors including awards from the Ghana Movie Awards and the Golden Movie Awards Africa.
Beyond her acting career, Sinare is also a producer and a committed advocate for women’s empowerment, youth development, and the advancement of the creative arts sector. She holds a diploma in Theatre Arts from the University of Ghana, Legon, a master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy, and a degree in Public Service and Governance from GIMPA.
Her appointment underscores Ghana’s diplomatic focus on strengthening cultural, economic, and political ties with European nations. Spain remains a key partner in areas such as trade, tourism, renewable energy, and migration management.
Other notable appointments include businessman Benjamin A. Quashie as High Commissioner to South Africa, former Kumasi Mayor Kojo Bonsu as Ambassador to China, and Prof. Kwasi Obiri-Danso, former Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, as Ambassador to India. All appointees are expected to undergo parliamentary vetting and approval before assuming office.

Kalsoume Sinare’s transition from acclaimed creative to diplomat reflects a broader trend under President Mahama’s leadership recognizing the value of accomplished professionals from civil society and the arts in key national roles.
