Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has denied allegations that he called Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine corrupt or a thief.

Addressing the controversy, A Plus clarified that a fake social media account impersonating him was responsible for the offensive remarks circulating online. He emphasized that the post did not originate from his verified accounts and condemned the impersonator’s intent to mislead the public and stir tensions.

“My official comments on the sanitation levy are available on my verified Facebook page. I never used the words ‘corrupt’ or ‘thief,’” he stated, urging Ghanaians to rely on his official platforms for accurate information.

Despite distancing himself from the fake post, A Plus issued an apology to Dr. Ayine, acknowledging that even his own response to the Attorney General’s earlier press conference could have been more measured.

“I understand Dr. Ayine’s frustration. Although I didn’t make the offensive remarks, my own Facebook response could have been more respectful,” he said. “I take full responsibility for my tone and words. As a younger colleague and a junior in Parliament, I sincerely apologize to Hon. Dr. Ayine, the public, the NDC, and Parliament. I have since deleted the post—a rare step for me.”

A Plus concluded by reaffirming his commitment to respectful discourse, especially in national conversations involving fellow lawmakers.
