The MahamaCares program, formally known as the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, was inaugurated by John Mahama on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). The initiative aims to provide critical support for Ghanaians suffering from chronic illnesses, including kidney failure, cancer, and heart disease.
During the launch, President Mahama also called on Corporate Ghana and philanthropic individuals to support the fund, emphasizing its role in reducing the financial burden on citizens affected by life-threatening health conditions.
