King Paluta Petitions TGMA Board Over ‘Makoma’ Snub From Most Popular Song Category
The Ghanaian rapper and singer, King Paluta, has formally petitioned the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board, seeking clarification on why his song, ‘Makoma,’ was excluded from certain nomination categories for the 26th TGMA.
In a letter dated March 18, King Paluta stated that he submitted ‘Makoma’ for consideration in four categories: Most Popular Song, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year.
However, when the official list of nominees was released, ‘Makoma’ was absent from all four categories, prompting the artist to demand an explanation from the awards board.
Paluta asserted that his song met all moral and ethical standards set by the TGMA board and deserved recognition in at least one of the nominated categories.

In his letter, he stated, “We humbly write to your honorable board to seek clarification regarding the exclusion of ‘Makoma’ by King Paluta, a song we duly submitted for consideration. We firmly believe it remains Ghana’s most popular song released within the year under review, continuing to generate significant excitement among music lovers.”
King Paluta’s management emphasized in the letter, “We have full confidence in the competence of the TGMA board and trust that a clear and convincing explanation will be provided to our team, music enthusiasts, and the general public regarding this unexpected decision.”
They further stated their willingness to engage with the board for a possible reconsideration of Makoma in the initially submitted categories.
