Nacee Is Not A Gospel Artist – Ras Kuuku Recount
Ghanaian reggae artist Ras Kuuku has raised doubts about Nacee’s status as a gospel musician.
In an interview with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz, Ghanaian reggae artist Ras Kuuku voiced his disagreement with the TGMA Board’s decision to restrict the gospel categories to only gospel musicians. When asked why artists like him wouldn’t be allowed to compete in these categories, he questioned whether Nacee could truly be considered a gospel musician.
“Nacee is not a gospel musician, Nacee is a producer,” Ras Kuuku asserted.
In response to DJ Slim’s comment about Nacee’s involvement in both producing and performing gospel songs, Ras Kuuku highlighted that Nacee has also worked on secular tracks, such as “Kwen Kwen,” a song he created for the National Democratic Congress political party.
In addition to his gospel productions, Nacee is also known for secular hits like “Boys Boys,” “Dondo,” and “Paddy Paddy,” among others.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards defines the “Best Gospel Song” category as “the song deemed by the Academy, Board, and the General Public as the most popular Christian song, commercially released in the year under review. The song must have generated significant public excitement and received considerable attention. Only songs performed by gospel artists are eligible for this category.”

Meanwhile, Ras Kuuku has claimed that his song “Me Mpaebo” is one of the biggest gospel songs released in the past decade.
Ras Kuuku’s remarks about Nacee suggest that his involvement in both secular and gospel music may have led to a divided perception of his brand among his music fans.
