Sam George has been approved as Minister for Communications, Digitalisation, and Innovations by majority consensus after the Minority in Parliament chose to abstain from the approval process.

Initially, the Minority had intended to request a secret ballot, raising concerns about George’s past remarks and conduct during his vetting.

However, the Minority later withdrew from the process after appeals from respected figures in the House.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin clarified that the decision to abstain was influenced by calls for restraint, prompting them to step back in order to avoid further controversy.

Meanwhile, Parliament also approved the nominations of Rashid Pelpuo, Kofi Adams, and two other ministers-designate, pending their swearing-in by President John Dramani Mahama.
