Saddick recounted how he first encountered Dominic in July 2020 after seeing a video of the then 9-year-old confidently presenting sports news in a WhatsApp group. Deeply impressed, he felt the boy was destined for greatness.
His recent Facebook post narrating Dominic’s journey has since touched many hearts and sparked widespread appreciation online.
“Sometimes random people would see me at a funeral or in a shopping mall and ask, ‘Where’s that young boy of yours?’
Police officers would stop me at checkpoints just to ask, ‘Where’s that boy?’Well… back to July 2020. I saw this 9-year-old boy on a WhatsApp group presenting sports and I immediately felt he had something special.
I inquired about him and learned he was living in a village called Assin Kwamoabeng. I arranged for him to appear on my sports show in Accra. His performance was so impressive that Dr. Kwaku Oteng called me afterward and suggested I drive to the village to speak with his parents about letting him move to Accra for schooling—under Dr. Oteng’s sponsorship.”
Saddick described the trip to the village as eye-opening. The harsh conditions made him realize that what he once considered a difficult childhood was, in comparison, a privilege. “There were no motorable roads, no electricity, no mobile network, no television just a few mud houses. Dominic had just completed stage six and was the best student in the village.
Sometimes random people will see me at a funeral or shopping mall and ask, “where is that your small boy”.

The nearest junior high school was miles away, and like their father, most of his nine siblings ended up as farmers or hunters after class six, simply because the distance to further education was too great a burden.”
Dominic’s parents agreed to let him go, and he moved to Accra. But the transition wasn’t easy. “Finding a quality school was a challenge. Although Dominic was naturally intelligent, the educational gap between him and his peers in the city was vast.
Some schools required entrance exams, but the questions were beyond anything he had been exposed to. Some rejected him outright. Others agreed to admit him only if he was moved several grades backward.
Finally, one of Accra’s top schools looked past his limitations and accepted him. It was tough at first, but with constant encouragement and extra support, he gradually caught up.
He had never used a computer before, but within a few years, he was leading coding sessions in class.”
Now, after years of dedication and hard work, Dominic has graduated earning one of the school’s top student awards.
“Ladies and gentlemen, ‘Professor’ Dominic Fobih is now a graduate and a whiz at computers.”
