1. Diogo Jota (Portugal – Football)

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota tragically lost his life in a car accident in Spain on July 3, 2025, at the age of 28. During his time at Anfield, he netted 65 goals and played a key role in helping the club win the Premier League and several domestic trophies. His untimely death came just two weeks after marrying his childhood sweetheart, Rute Cardoso.
2. André Silva (Portugal – Football)

Jota’s younger brother, André, aged 25, also lost his life in the same tragic accident. He was a professional footballer who played for Portuguese side FC Penafiel.
3. Wilberforce Mfum (Ghana – Football)

Ghanaian football legend Wilberforce Mfum, celebrated for scoring Ghana’s first-ever AFCON goal in 1963, passed away on May 11, 2025, at the age of 88.
Mfum had a remarkable international career, scoring 20 goals in just 26 appearances for the national team. He was also a vital part of the squad that represented Ghana at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
4. George Foreman (USA – Boxing)

Two-time world heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist George Foreman passed away on March 21, 2025, at the age of 76. Renowned for his legendary “Rumble in the Jungle” bout and later success as an entrepreneur, Foreman remained a lasting icon in and out of the ring.
Born on January 10, 1949, in Marshall, Texas, Foreman faced a difficult childhood. After a troubled youth in Oregon, he discovered boxing at the age of 14, a turning point that set him on the path to greatness.

Joseph Laughlin Stewart, the 1970 Commonwealth Games 10,000m gold medallist, passed away on May 31, 2025, at the age of 81. He famously clinched gold for Scotland in the 10,000m event at the 1970 Commonwealth Games held in Edinburgh and later represented Great Britain at the 1972 Munich Olympics.
Born in Alexandria in 1943, Stewart worked as a dental mechanic alongside his athletics career. He died in a Paisley hospital following a short illness. In 2020, at the age of 77, he underwent a leg amputation due to diabetes-related complications.

Former MLB first baseman Mike Breazeale passed away on March 13, 2025, at the age of 75. He spent much of his professional baseball career with the Atlanta Braves (1969, 1971–72) and also had a stint with the Chicago White Sox in 1978.
Breazeale was born on October 3, 1949, in Houston, Texas.

The 2010 Olympic bronze medallist tragically passed away on July 16, 2025, at the age of 49, after being struck by lightning during a cabin trip. Though he was rushed to the hospital, he sadly did not survive.
He earned his place in history by winning bronze in ski cross at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
