NPP Has Left Me Out Of Key Decisions And Council Meetings – Kufuor
Senior statesman and founding figure of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), former President John Agyekum Kufuor, has expressed deep frustration over being sidelined by the party during key internal matters, particularly surrounding the election of new national executives and a flagbearer.

Speaking during a courtesy visit from presidential hopeful Bryan Acheampong, Kufuor voiced his disappointment at being excluded from crucial decision-making, despite his decades of service and leadership within the party.
“I don’t understand why my own party, the NPP, has sidelined me,” he said with visible dismay.

He emphasized that after leading the NPP to electoral victory and serving as Ghana’s president from 2001 to 2008, the current party leadership appears to find it “wise to ignore and sideline” him in shaping the party’s future.
“I’ve been part of this party for so many years and served two terms as president, but the system thinks it’s wise to ignore me,” Kufuor reiterated.

The former president also lamented being excluded from a critical National Council meeting an essential platform for shaping the party’s leadership and direction.
He warned that such exclusion undermines party unity and reflects a troubling disregard for its founding members.
These remarks come at a time when the NPP is grappling with deepening internal divisions and power struggles, particularly in the lead-up to the 2028 general elections. Concerns over transparency, unity, and respect for party elders have fueled growing tensions around the flagbearer race.
