Mahama To Swear In New Supreme Court Justices Today
President John Dramani Mahama is set to administer the oath of office to seven newly confirmed Justices of the Supreme Court today, Thursday, July 3.
This comes after Parliament approved all seven of Mahama’s nominees, despite fierce opposition from the Minority in the House. The swearing-in follows the final report of the Appointments Committee, which was met with a heated debate and a voice vote that saw the NDC Majority secure the outcome.

The Minority Caucus, however, strongly opposed the appointments, citing constitutional concerns in light of the recent suspension of the Chief Justice. They further accused the Supreme Court of failing in its duty by remaining silent on the issue.

“The recording of the meeting will show that all Minority members opposed and voted against the nomination of the seven judges,” a representative stated. “Our objections were not properly reflected in the committee’s report.”
Despite the controversy, the swearing-in marks a significant shift in the composition of Ghana’s highest court under Mahama’s leadership.
