Goldbod Reaches $5 Billion In Exports – Sammy Gyamfi
Ghana has recorded over $5 billion in gold export earnings in just the first half of 2025, exceeding the $4.6 billion total achieved for the entire year of 2024, according to the Gold Board (GoldBod).
Sammy Gyamfi, CEO of GoldBod, announced the milestone at a press briefing in Accra, crediting the achievement to recent regulatory reforms and a stronger push to formalize the gold trade. “In the whole of 2024, gold exports stood at 66 tons valued at $4.6 billion. We’ve done just six months in 2025, and already, we’ve surpassed that with over $5 billion in exports,” Gyamfi stated.

He noted that over 50 tons of gold have been exported so far this year, with projections indicating Ghana could reach 60 tons by the end of July.
The GoldBod chief also highlighted the positive macroeconomic impacts, pointing to improved cedi stability and stronger foreign exchange inflows. “This month alone, we have brought in no less than $900 million in forex for the Bank of Ghana,” Gyamfi revealed.
