Ken Ofori-Atta To Return To Ghana After June 13 Surgery – Family Claims
The family of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has announced that he will return to Ghana following surgery scheduled for June 13, 2025.
In a statement issued on Monday, June 9, the family confirmed that Ofori-Atta plans to face the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) after his medical procedure and subsequent recovery.

The family strongly condemned the issuance of an INTERPOL Red Notice against him, describing the move by the OSP as a violation of due process, constitutional rights, and international law.

“We are confident that Mr. Ofori-Atta’s rights will be restored and that, upon the conclusion of investigations, he will be fully acquitted before the nation. Justice will find the Hamans,” the statement said.
They emphasized that once Ofori-Atta completes his surgery and the necessary post-operative treatment and recuperation, he will return to Ghana and meet with the Special Prosecutor in person.
In the statement, the family revealed they have filed a formal petition with INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau and the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF), requesting the immediate removal of the Red Notice. They accused the OSP of abusing its administrative powers and of acting on manipulated evidence while withholding crucial medical information.

The family also questioned the legality of the arrest warrant issued on February 11, 2025, noting it was granted under “unusual circumstances” and lacked a supporting affidavit. They further pointed out that no formal charges have been filed against Ofori-Atta to date.
Describing the OSP’s actions as part of a “premeditated vendetta” against the former minister, the family reiterated their demand for the deletion of the Red Notice and a fair, lawful process moving forward.
Their petition follows recent remarks by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, who confirmed that his office had initiated steps to secure an INTERPOL Red Notice—potentially paving the way for Ofori-Atta’s international arrest and extradition.
Agyebeng also rejected Ofori-Atta’s request for a virtual hearing, insisting on an in-person appearance.
