President Mahama Withdraws Anne Sansa Daly’s Appointment From NHIA Board
President John Dramani Mahama has revoked the appointment of Anne Sansa Daly from the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), effective immediately. This decision follows concerns regarding her lack of a valid medical license to practice in Ghana.
The Office of the President announced that Prof. Dr. (Med) Ernest Yorke has been nominated to replace Daly on the NHIA Board. Prof. Yorke, a seasoned physician and former Greater Accra Regional Chair of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), is expected to bring his extensive experience to the role.
While the official statement did not specify reasons for Daly’s removal, sources indicate that the decision was prompted by public and professional backlash over her representation as a medical doctor without holding a valid license in Ghana.
The NHIA Board plays a critical role in shaping policy and overseeing the management of Ghana’s National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), which is central to the delivery of healthcare services to millions of Ghanaians.
