Grammys And MTV Awards Don’t Consider Visualisers – Lyrical Joe
Rapper Lyrical Joe has pushed back against the idea that traditional music videos are losing relevance in today’s music industry.
His remarks follow recent opinions from some industry players, including artist manager BullGod, who suggested that visualisers are now more effective than professionally produced music videos.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio and DJ Slim, the Ghanaian rapper argued that visualisers lack the impact and commercial value of high-quality music videos.

“Trust me, they’re not going to play your visualiser at the Grammys or MTV Music Awards. No. You need proper music videos in your catalogue,” he asserted. “Even when a label or company is considering you, they check your catalogue—not for visualisers, but for real videos. They want to see the investment you’ve made in your visuals. That tells them how serious you are about your brand.”
He further noted that while freestyle videos may resonate with music audiences, they can’t rival the impact of official music videos in an artist’s catalog.
“You see, people love freestyles—they really enjoy them. But no matter what, they’ll never hold the same weight as your official music video catalog,” he explained. “You can do freestyles over and over again, but you only shoot the main video once.”
Lyrical Joe’s emphasis on building a solid visual catalog and investing in professionally produced music videos reflects his deep commitment to both his artistry and brand identity.
